We envision an education environment where children are not defined only by examination results, but are encouraged to explore, question, experiment, create and connect classroom knowledge with real life.
Our long-term vision is to contribute to a more practical, research-informed and student-centred education ecosystem in Bangladesh, beginning from the primary and junior levels.
Brain Forge Educational Research, Analysis & Development Centre is an emerging education-focused research and development initiative dedicated to understanding the challenges faced by children in their early stages of education and developing practical, evidence-based approaches to address them.
We believe that education is not only about examination results. The foundation of a child's future is built through curiosity, concentration, creativity, exploration, practical experience and the ability to learn beyond the classroom.
Today, children are growing up in a rapidly changing digital environment. Smartphones, online games and digital platforms have created new opportunities for learning, but excessive and uncontrolled screen use is also becoming a growing concern. Recent research in Bangladesh has documented high levels of screen exposure among children and adolescents, alongside concerns related to sleep, concentration, physical activity, behaviour and mental well-being.
Brain Forge was established in mid-2026 with a simple but ambitious belief:
If we want better outcomes in higher education and adulthood, we must begin improving the learning environment at the foundation level.
Our work focuses particularly on primary and junior-level students, where learning habits, curiosity, confidence and attitudes toward education are still developing.
We conduct and support educational research, field activities, workshops, competitions, practical learning initiatives and analytical studies to understand what actually works for students in real-life educational environments.
Our first major initiative, “Scholars of the Year 2026” marks the beginning of this journey. Initially, Brain Forge is working across selected areas of Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
But this competition is not designed to end when the event ends. The experiences, participation patterns, observations and outcomes generated through our activities will become part of a longer-term learning and research process. Over the following year, we intend to study these outcomes, identify areas for improvement and develop better ideas for future interventions.
We are a new research centre, and like every new initiative, our resources are currently limited. We may not be able to begin with the scale or luxury of established institutions. But we believe meaningful change does not always begin with large resources.
It begins with the courage to take the first practical step. Brain Forge is taking that step. Our ambition is not to claim that we can solve every educational problem overnight. Rather, we want to build a continuous process of research → action → observation → analysis → improvement.
If, through our continuous efforts, even a small number of students become more focused, curious, active and engaged with learning, that progress will be meaningful to us. This is more than a competition. It is the beginning of a long-term effort to help children rediscover the value of learning, exploration and purposeful activity—and to help build an education system that is more practical, research-informed and future-ready.

Children's Excessive & Unhealthy Screen Use
May 14, 2026 - icddr,b study
A study involving 420 children aged 6–14 from six Dhaka schools, conducted during 2022–2024, found that around 83% spent more than two hours per day on screens, with average daily screen exposure around 4.6 hours. Reports linked excessive screen exposure with sleep deprivation, obesity, headaches, eye problems and mental-health-related difficulties.

An opinion piece highlighted increasing cases where parents are seeking help for children with severe smartphone dependency, including anxiety, panic and conflict when devices are removed.
UNICEF's Childhood in a Digital World, published in June 2025, similarly argues for a balanced approach: children should be able to benefit from digital technology while being protected from its potential harms.
